New York at Sunset

This is a small keepsake box that I painted (currently FOR SALE in my Etsy shop here: [link])

New York City at sunset...Is there any sight more beautiful? I think not.
Which is precisely why I created this keepsake box! I myself LOVE New York, and knew others out there do too, and might want a small painted keepsake box to match the sentiment.

The box measures 3.5 inches by 2.25 inches, and is 2.25 inches tall. It displays my own original design, featuring a painted silhouette of New York--Manhattan in particular--against a flaming sunset. Vibrant orange hues co-mingle with effervescent violet, which fades to a deep black-blue. The city scene is crisply lined with ink, to insure clean lines of a city silhouette. The portrait is captured, framed by the black edge of the box top. It's all preserved under a generous layer of clear, shiny satin varnish.

The box closes securely with a clasp, which is accented by bright purple rhinestones to match the tones in the skyline. The inside is lined with vivid blue felt. The bottom of the box displays my shop name, as well as my signature, and a little emerald brush (to go with my shop name!).

The box was deconstructed and well-prepared with acrylic gesso before it was painted. Then every speck of it was hand-painted, hand-varnished, and reassembled (the hinges and latch reattached). It was then meticulously lined with felt, and rhinestones added to the latch. All work done by hand.
